Announcing the next phase for Gloat – $57M Series C funding led by Accel
How our latest rounding of funding will fuel Gloat’s growth
When we founded Gloat, we had a simple but lofty vision – to bring democratized career development to every individual, regardless of their background, and startup agility to every enterprise, regardless of its size.
We knew to achieve that vision we couldn’t just add on a feature or module onto an existing technology. We needed to inspire organizations to fundamentally rethink the way they manage their people and the way they approach the very concept of work. The result? An entirely new technology category known as the Talent Marketplace – an AI-powered platform that dynamically connects talent and individuals’ unique aspirations with business needs, in the form of projects, full-time roles, mentorships, and other opportunities that exist within the company.
From the moment we implemented our first talent marketplace, and with the help of incredible partners like Unilever, Schneider Electric, Standard Chartered Bank, Seagate, Nestlé, HSBC, MetLife, Mastercard and many of the world’s leading enterprises that we are proud to call our customers, it didn’t take long for us to prove the power of this new paradigm. We were helping people achieve their true potential, and businesses to accelerate to meet the demands of the modern market.
Our Talent Marketplace has enabled our customers to assemble teams to launch products at record speeds, to redeploy thousands of employees based on real-time market demand, save millions of dollars in external contingent labor costs, move the needle on D&I, and to help retain and inspire amazing talent by providing them with a chance to find their second act right within the company’s walls.
We’ve known for a long time that the Talent Marketplace was more than just another technology platform. It was a redefinition of how we managed the modern enterprise, the way we saw talent within the organization, and the way we approached work itself.
Announcing Accel
As we continued to scale our vision to bring the Talent Marketplace to every organization, we knew we needed a partner that shared the same dream of an agile, democratized workforce with us. And we found this partner in Accel. Backers of some of the enterprise-redefining companies of our generation, including Slack, Atlassian, Qualtrics, Dropbox, and many others, Accel has a proven track record of supporting the most meaningful, disruptive and revolutionary innovators in the world that have successfully challenged the status quo of how enterprises should work – from communications to collaboration to employee experience.
We’re honored to be joining those ranks with our Series C funding, announced today, which has been led by Accel and supported by follow-on investments from our existing investors Eight Roads Ventures, Intel Capital, Magma Venture Partners, and PICO Partners.
I’m thrilled to welcome Accel’s Phillipe Botteri to the team, who will be joining Gloat’s Board of Directors. With success stories like DocuSign, Cornerstone, UiPath, and countless others under his belt, I can’t think of a better partner to help us in the next stage of Gloat’s journey.
What’s Next
So what does this exciting round of funding mean for Gloat? We have a lot more news on the way, but to start with, this announcement comes on the heels of our new brand positioning announced just last week.
We call it The Anything Workforce, and it is our view on the world that the silos and hierarchies that have defined organizations for over a century, are now holding them back. To adapt to the modern era and the modern employee, we need to look beyond the ONE thing that defines people – one title, one role, one department, one skillset – and embrace the idea that our people can do and become ANYthing. We created a video to illustrate the concept that does an amazing job of telling this story, linked below.
We believe we can bring this vision to life in every organization, so will use this funding to further expand our global footprint across all business functions and accelerate the development of our market-defining talent marketplace platform.
Much more to come on that, so be sure to follow us on LinkedIn and subscribe to our blog for all of latest from Gloat.
Finally, I want to end on a personal note of gratitude, to both our incredible partners that have gotten us here, and to the incredible Gloaters who make up Gloat’s own Anything Workforce. You continue to amaze and inspire me each day. Without you, none of this would have been possible. THANK YOU!
Here’s to making ANYthing possible!
